What We Like About The ProGear 300LS Air Elliptical

There are several key features of the ProGear 300LS Air Elliptical which we really like, so let’s talk about those in some detail right now.

Something that we really like about the ProGear 300LS Air Elliptical is that it comes with 2 sets of handlebars. It has one set of handlebars that is stationary for a quick and easy workout, which also have the included heartbeat sensors on it. The ProGear 300LS Air Elliptical also has a second pair of moving handlebars which are ideal for getting a good upper body workout.

We like the air driven strap tension resistance system that the ProGear 300LS Air Elliptical comes with. The tension is easily adjustable with the turn of a dial so you can get the workout you need. You can easily increase or decrease the resistance in order to suit your needs. As far as air driven tensions systems go, the mechanism on this particular elliptical machine is fairly smooth.

We like the fact that the ProGear 300LS Air Elliptical has a reversible stride. This means that you can use this elliptical machine going both forward and backward. This is beneficial because it helps to target different muscles when going backward, as opposed to going forward. For an entry level elliptical trainer it is quite impressive that it comes with this feature.

The fact that the ProGear 300LS Air Elliptical has a good LCD display system is yet another good aspect. It can display calories burned, speed, distance, and much more. Of course, the heartbeat sensors located on the stationary arms let you keep track of your cardio output for a well-rounded fitness routine.

We also like how the ProGear 300LS Air Elliptical has large pedals which can fit virtually any foot. They are specially designed with a dotted and ribbed pattern in order to make sure that they have good grip and so you don’t slip off of them.

What We Don’t Like About The ProGear 300LS Air Elliptical

As always, there are a couple of bones we have to pick when it comes to the ProGear 300LS Air Elliptical.

The low weight and relatively small size of the ProGear 300LS Air Elliptical make it somewhat wobbly and unstable. It is not like this elliptical trainer is going to tip over and fall during use, but it definitely does not sit perfectly still.

Some people have noted that the 14-inch stride is a little small. What we mean is that this particular elliptical machine is probably not ideal for very tall people with long legs as it won’t let you stretch out as far as you may need.

Alternatives To The ProGear 300LS Air Elliptical

There are a couple of good alternatives to the ProGear 300LS to go with, so let’s just look at those quickly.

Body Rider BR1830 Fan Elliptical Trainer

The Body Rider BR1830 Fan Elliptical Trainer is slightly different than the ProGear 300LS. The ProGear is a little bit more expensive, but it does come with a reversible stride, heartbeat sensors, and has a slightly higher weight capacity too. On the other hand, some people have noted that the ProGear is fair loud, whereas the Body Rider is comparatively silent (it is still kind of loud, but not as much as the ProGear). Also, the Body Rider is more space friendly, not to mention easier on the wallet too.

Sunny Health & Fitness SF-E905 Elliptical Trainer

This Sunny Health & Fitness is a really good alternative to consider. While it is slightly larger and will take up more space, plus a little more expensive too, the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-E905 Elliptical Trainer does use magnetic tension, which is something that many people like. At the end of the day, both models are similar, but the magnetic tension of the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-E905 does make it a little quieter. One thing that does need to be said is that the ProGear model does have a higher weight capacity.

Final Thoughts On The ProGear 300LS Air Elliptical

The ProGear 300LS is a perfectly fine elliptical trainer option to consider purchasing. It comes in at a fairly affordable price, it has a good tension system, it is highly adjustable, has a decent weight capacity, 2 sets of handlebars, and a reversible stride as well. All in all, while it is not the number one entry level elliptical machine out there, it definitely gives the top contenders a run for their money.
