Powerline P2X Home Gym Review

When it comes to home gyms with weight stacks, the Powerline P2X is probably one of the best options to consider. It has plenty of different exercise possibilities, a good weight stack with the possibility to upgrade, it has a good warranty, a great user weight limit, and much more. This is one of the slightly more expensive mid range home gym options, but its high durability and functionality make it well worth the investment.

What We Like About The Powerline P2X Home Gym

There are a good number of features which we really like about the Powerline P2X Home Gym, so let’s just talk about those in some detail.

One of the things that we like about the Powerline P2X Home Gym is that it is more than ideal for beginner, intermediate, and even advanced weight lifters. It comes with a 160-pound weight stack to start, which is divided into 10-pound increments. However, where the Powerline P2X Home Gym shines, is the 50-pound weight stack upgrade that it can handle. Being able to upgrade the amount of weight on a weight stack home gym is not a feature that is seen too often.

Something else that we really like about the Powerline P2X Home Gym is that it comes with dozens of different exercise choices, possible thanks to six different stations. The Powerline P2X Home Gym comes with multi-function press arms, a lat pull down bar, a high pulley station, a mid pulley station, an ab crunch feature, functional pulleys, a low pulley station with seated row capabilities, a leg developer with multiple functions, and more.

The Powerline P2X Home Gym also has an optional leg press station too. More or less, you can exercise every muscle on your body with the Powerline P2X Home Gym.

Another thing that we like about the Powerline P2X Home Gym is that all adjustments are easily made. Changing the function of the press arms and leg developer is very simple. Also, the weight stack is controlled by a simple pin that just needs to be inserted where you want it to go.

We also like the fact that the Powerline P2X Home Gym has a very comfortable seat that is well-padded and features a vinyl coating. Moreover, the seat is very convenient because it can be adjusted for height and position, which is also true for the backrest. All in all, the Powerline P2X Home Gym is very comfortable thanks to the fact that it has lots of padding and grip wherever they are needed.

What We Don’t Like About The Powerline P2X Home Gym

There are just a couple of small issues that we have with the Powerline P2X Home Gym, so let’s quickly talk about those.

Some people have noted that some of the cables rub against the metal rails, thus causing them to wear down pretty quickly.

Assembling the Powerline P2X Home Gym is a pain due to there being a great many parts. It will take you a whole day if you are working by yourself.

Alternatives To The Powerline P2X Home Gym

So you have some points of reference, let’s compare the Powerline P2X Home Gym to some of the other mid range home gym options.

Total Gym XLS

The Total Gym XLS is a pretty neat alternative to go with. What can be said is that the Total Gym XLS is cheaper than the Powerline P2X, it is much lighter, it does not take up as much room, and is easier to store as well. The Total Gym XLS is also much better in terms of providing you with a total body workout, especially because it does include some aspects of cardio and flexibility training. On the other hand, the Powerline P2X Home Gym is much better for pure strength training goals.

Bowflex Blaze Home Gym

Bowflex Blaze Home Gym Review

The Bowflex Blaze Home Gym is another good alternative to consider. It uses power rod resistance as opposed to a straight up weight stack. This is kind of a matter of personal preference. Some people like the rods because they are much lighter, plus the Blaze can handle up to 410 pounds of resistance. On the other hand, some people note that the original weight stack feels much smoother and more constant while lifting. There is also the fact that the Bowflex Blaze takes up a whole lot of room. The Bowflex Blaze does have a few more workout options than the Powerline P2X.

Final Thoughts On The Powerline P2X Home Gym

The Powerline P2X Home Gym is a very fine choice to go with. It is ideal for virtually every fitness level, it comes with a ton of workout options, it is strong, and durable too. The Powerline P2X Home Gym makes for a great mid range home gym, especially considering the more than fair price it comes in at.
